Favorite Things 2012: Contour & Highlight
This is a very short list. Two items made the top of my list for contour and highlight. I think you guys already know...
Chanel Sculpting Veil in Notorious simply defies everything we know about contour. It works on just about every skin tone under the sun, and doesn't add color. It just adds 'shadow.' It's amazing. The only crime about this product is that it was limited edition and sold out fairly quickly. I am completely in love with this product. If you can get it, don't hesitate.
Kevyn Aucoin Highlighter in Candlelight is considerably easier to get. I love this stuff. You use such a little bit to add a whole lot of light to a wide range of skin tones. It just gives the skin a bit of a glow, like it's bathed in candlelight.

Hi Shahada, I've been saving your blog posts for when I could set aside a chunk of time to indulge in all your 2012 favourites.
ReplyDeleteChanel Notorious is my top contour powder, and doubt anything will usurp its position any time in the near future. It gives me cheekbones and definition like none (no?) other.
I've heard many good things about Kevyn Aucoin Candlelight, but I'm still content to highlight with my MAC Too Chic powder beauty powder. Given my faith in your opinion, I don't think I should allow myself to swatch KA Candlelight until Too Chic is almost done. (It helps there aren't any KA counters near me.)
My skin has become especially dry and sensitive this winter, so I've been entertaining the idea of a liquid illuminator. I'd like something without sparkle; an illuminator with gorgeous sheen and glow for my NC20/25 skin. I suspect Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Moonstone may be a good fit, but my local Sephoras don't stock it. Do you have any recommendations?
Hi Boo Boo Ninja! My favorite Liquid Illuminator is from INGLOT. My second favorite is UPLIGHT from Make Up For Ever, which is a little more dense (and which I do believe Sephora DOES carry). Both companies have plenty of shades to choose from.
ReplyDeleteI like KA Candlelight because it's a powder, but if a powder is too drying for you, then a liquid illuminator is a much better bet.
Hi Shahada, is notorious too light for a Mac NC50, BB Warm Almond? I'm worried it won't show up on my face ;(
ReplyDeleteI think that Notorious might probably be fine... but I would worry as well that it would get lost. I would honestly go with a warmer contour for NC50 just to be on the safe side.
