FOTD: Notorious

Okay, this is my first full attempt on myself with Notorious. I used it on several clients last week, and it was nearly invisible in its fabulousness. Okay, that doesn't make sense. But it does... because the point of this product is that no one should really be able to tell that you're wearing it.

I took this picture with a raggedy camera that we have laying around the house... because it picks up shadows very well. Can you see Notorious? It's right under the hollow of my cheekbone.

With the flash, you can see the shadow, but not the product. It's brilliant that way. And I PACKED it on, so that you guys could see it. But because it's so sheer, it just kind of blends in. It's really hard to mess up with this contour. I also ran it through the crease of my eyes, just for fun.

I took a stiff brush and ran it down the side of my face, JUST so you could see it. LOL. Now, even packed on with a stiff brush... it still tries to look like a shadow.

This product is brilliant. I highly recommend it. On the up side, it'll  probably last forever so although it's limited, I don't think it's worth a back up. I've found that every time I back something up, by the time I get to the second one... someone has come out with something EVEN BETTER. So one will do just fine.

  1. Brilliant - that's the word I used for it. I think we are roughly the same complexion - NC45 - it's amazing how it creates "hollows" in just the right place. It's cool tone warms up when I apply bronzer over it, yet the hollowing affect isn't diminished. The warmer hollow looks great with peach or coral toned blush. I agree about not needing a back up. It will last forever anyway, since you don't need to use much.

  2. If I look at this compared to other photos of you, I can see that your cheekbones are a little more prominent, but it's so natural that you wouldn't guess it was blush. I'm guessing it might be a little more obvious on my NC15 complexion, but I still can't wait to try it.

  3. Brilliant, indeed. I love that you can see the effect, but not the product, per se. As usual, you look gorgeous! Thanks so much for sharing. You are my go-to reference because of our similar skin tones and also because of your expertise in application.

    Thanks again!

  4. Thank you everyone! PANNA, I'm glad it was useful to you. I really can't believe how versatile and universal this product is. Ava, it really does create 'hollows'! I nearly look like I have dimples. LOL.
Kate I think you'll have no problem at all with it. It blends out beautifully, and I feel like it's kind of hard to mess it up.

    1. LOVE IT! Finally got mine last week and I've been enjoying the shadow effect. I've got a rounded/full face and have never had this much success when I used bronzers, etc to contour. I truly wouldn't have even considered this if you hadn't featured it, so thanks again!

Now considering a back-up, although you may be right that by the time I use it all up someone would have come up with a better product. :-)

Which brush do you use to apply this, btw?

    2. I'm glad you love it! I honestly think it'll last you forever... lol. I'm not backing mine up. I use an angled contour brush to apply it just in the hollows of my cheeks.

  5. It looks beautiful! I'm so glad it's kind of idiot-proof as this will be my first contour product. What did you think of the brush it came with?

  6. Thanks!

I'm not a fan of the brush, but don't let me be the judge. I'm not that happy with the brushes that come in those Chanel compacts. I often throw them out and use an angled contour brush instead. It's a personal preference.

  7. RomantaTherapist, Notorious isn't idiot proof. To judge by what I've read on other other blogs, the fairer one is the more blending and buffing Notorious requires. It's really important to begin with a light hand and to follow the contours of your bone structure. Of course, Shahada's a pro, so... :)

  8. LOL Ava! I didn't have much trouble, but neither did several other bloggers that I've talked to (and they're not pros). I had to put this on HEAVY so that you guys could see it. And that swatch in the previous post is layered pretty thick. Remember that this formula is pretty sheer. Just swipe the brush ONCE across the pot, and buff it in. I really don't think it'll be that scary. :-)

  9. I was totally on the fence about this until I read your review. You sold me. I ordered it earlier today =)

  11. I got Notorious last night. Err...actually my awesome fiancé did (for my upcoming birthday)! I'm not a makeup expert or that experienced with MU, but I didn't have any problems applying and blending it at the Chanel counter. I brought my own brush so I could be sure I liked the effect on myself. Chanel Notorious is a must-have. I've been contouring with a bronzing powder, and the effect I get with Notorious simply doesn't compare.

It's my first Chanel! XD Squeeee!

  12. Yay! I'm glad you got it and love it! It's really easy to blend out. I absolutely swear by it now.
