YSL: Summer 2012

YSL released an interesting collection for Summer 2012. I feel like it's a little bit Summer, and a little bit Autumn. I was surprised by some of the Eyeshadow colors actually. There are three palettes, and two of them are very muted. I went all Summer for my selections though. The brightest palette (#7) came home with me, along with an interesting Golden Gloss (#51).

YSL Golden Gloss: #51

The palettes are Chromatics Wet/Dry palettes. I feel like they're smaller than the originals, but sill feature that fabulous silky formula that you can use wet or dry. What I love about these shadows is that they're not ruined after you use them wet, even though they look and feel like traditional shadows.
Pure Chromatics Palette #7
I thought this palette was absolutely stunning. It's definitely more of a 'summer-like' selection of colors... not like the other two. I don't really understand the thinking behind adding the muted palettes, except maybe they'll transition nicely into Autumn.

Anyway...
Dry

Wet
I feel like the flash ate the color of these shadows a lot. They're really intense in natural light. I used them dry today, with no base, and they held beautifully. No creasing, fading... nothing. The colors wore true for 8+ hours with no issues.

I think I might go back for other two palettes... much later. They're lovely, although not very seasonal. When the temperature drops though, they'll be perfect.

  3. I am loving the looks of this collection so much! I want THAT gloss and I've also been eyeing that Pure Chromatics palette. In your swatch pics the orange appears to have a beautiful pink sheen while the white looks to reflect some orange. Is that accurate or am I imagining there is more to this palette than there really is?

  4. You're right Perilous. There is much more going on with this palette. Yes, there is pink shimmer in the orange color, and the white has a multiple shimmer with a little orange in there as well. It's a very well done palette and by far my favorite of the three.
