My favorite pics from the NARS Summer 2012 Collection finally arrived. I must say, I am NOT disappointed. I was a little skeptical of some of the color combinations initially (peach and silver seemed... odd to me for the eyeshadow trio), but they all come together so nicely. I love the idea of combining colors that I never would have thought would work, and NARS does that beautifully.

The Velvet Matte Lip Pencil is gorgeously soft in color and texture, and it wears all day with no issues. It's not drying, and I am blown away by how flattering it is. It will definitely work a wide range of skin tones.
There is NOTHING like that Liberte Blush. It looks really strong and scary in the pan, but it applies so softly. It can be built to greater intensity if you like, but it really wears like a warm veil of color across the skin. Just beautiful.
The Calabria Soft Touch Eyeshadow pencil is pretty, but not very practical. It wipes away very easily. It has no staying power and will likely need a heavy dose of primer, and may even a powder shadow over it, to get it to really stay put.
The Ramatuelle Eye Shadow trio is the most unexpected gem of the collection. I never expected those colors to work, to be honest. But the silver is so sheer and flattering, the shimmer apricot actually works, and the matte color just brings it all together brilliantly.
I am pretty happy with my picks for the NARS Summer 2012 collection. I can't wait to put them to practical use!

Glad you like the collection. I got the one thing that stood out to me: Liberte.
ReplyDeleteI'm stumped though when thinking of what lip colors to pair it with. What would you suggest? General colors or actual shades (I have so many lip products that I probably have whatever you might suggest) that would go well with it. That would help me a lot.
Liberte is more apricot/peach than orange... so it reads warm/neutral (not hot like an orange blush would).
ReplyDeletePair it with any warm lip color. I would even wear it with a warm red and some kind of gold on the eyes. It's a very complementary color. You can do gold, peach, warm pinks, browns, warm nudes... the list goes on and on.
Just stay away from a 'cool' toned color, like any blue based pinks or reds because it might clash. As long as you've got a warm lippie, you should be fine.
Thanks a lot!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome girl. Anytime. :-)
