A sample of the Barely Base foundation was tucked into my last order from Senna (warm envelope). The foundation is listed as 'medium' ... although it imitates the 'dark' shade that I'd seen previously at Naimies. I think they may have redone their formulations or something, because when I checked the website for 'Dark' -- it was REALLY dark, and the Medium shade looked more like what I received in the mail.
Anyhow, I wore it for an FOTD, and I was impressed by how the finish turned out. I have to admit, I was worried at first because this formula is so thin that you can see your skin as clear as day. But in a few minutes... everything kind of merged together:
FACE
Senna Barely Base (Medium)
Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder (2)
Chanel Blush in Tumulte
EYES
Bobbi Brown Eyeshadow in Toast (lids)
MAC Eyeshadow in Folie (crease/under waterline)
YSL Shocking Gel Liner in Ashy Black (lashline)
Chanel Eye Pencil in Rose Platine (waterline)
Armani Eyes to Kill Mascara
LIPS
Chantecaille Hydra Chic Lipstick in Willow
NARS Lip Gloss in Metis
Barely Base wore throughout the day like a regular foundation. I can't tell you how it managed to behave like a foundation, despite it's 'tinted moisturizer' texture and application. It's pretty excellent. I'm going to use my sample a few more times before committing... but so far, so very very good.

Barely base sounds interesting, but you also have pretty flawless skin to begin with :) Now me and my acne scars might not be so kind to such light coverage, lol
ReplyDeleteNoooooooooooooo my skin is so FAR from flawless! LOL Thank you, but trust me that is a whole lot of makeup so that I can pretend to have flawless skin. This base did NOT cover any of my imperfections initially, but after about five minutes it started to sort of 'merge' everything together. What I think it does is reflect light - so that even though it's sheer, you can't technically see through it. I think it's pretty genius. I'm going to use up my sample, and then maybe have a go at a purchase.
ReplyDeleteYour brows are lookin' good these days.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea what this post is actually about. I've only been staring at your brows.
:) Happy Friday!
Lol! Thank you Boo Boo Ninja. I've been growing them out. These days I just run some brow gel and a little shadow through them and they're done.
ReplyDeleteI stumbled upon this blog looking for a review of the Senna Barely Base -- your skin does look gorgeous wearing it -- did you end up buying it? I was looking at the colors on Senna's website, but now I think Medium may be too dark. I guess I'll have to call them to color consult. Thanks for the review.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I did end up buying Senna Barely Base. It works great as a tinted moisturizer.
