Illamasqua Skin Base: Why it didn't make my list of Favorites

Okay, I've gotten some emails.
After losing my mind over Illamasqua Skin Base... at the end of the year, it did not make my top list of favorite foundations.

You can find the original review here:

There's only one reason the foundation didn't make the list: accessibility. It's nearly impossible to match a foundation online (every time I've tried, I've failed). It's just too much to ask (for that price) to guess at a foundation color on such a grand scale. Until it's available in the states, that is the only reason it didn't make the list.

Otherwise, I absolutely love it. The finish is unmatched. It blows other alleged 'HD' foundations out of the water. It photographs beautifully. It's a stunning formula.

I just need it to be more widely available.

  1. I was wondering about that, too. What shade are you, though. I noticed in other posts that you use two shades. That stopped me from ordering it. I don't want to have to mix shades.

On another note, I ordered the D&G foundation and I should have it by next week. I am so excited.

  2. Yep... I use two shades. I'm between #14(too light) and #15 (too dark). I'm literally RIGHT between these shades. I mix together one drop of each, and it comes out perfect on me.

I got a few emails like: "WTH? You were soooo excited about this... now it's not a fave?" LOL So I thought I'd clear things up. The fact that it's not accessible (and for about $45 a pop) is a big deal because you really should try it on your skin first.

I'm so happy you got the D & G Foundation! I think you will love it! I want to know how it performs on your skin, since you're on the dry side.

  3. I would love to try this, but I dont' think I've ever successfully matched my foundation online.

  4. Neither have I. I got #14 with the help of Kadian (Illamasqua expert extraordinaire), but found that I needed to go a little deeper. So I ordered #15 as well, and mix accordingly.
