My Glitter & Ice stuff came from MAC. Much of the collection was a pass for me. I did order the Paint Pots though, because I feel that's something that MAC does really well.

As expected, I LOVE For Effect. It's a dark grey with a deeply imbedded shimmer... I really love the way it looks. Morning Frost turned out to be a bit of a dud. It's functional, and it's okay, but the color isn't much to write about. The surprise was Let's Skate! I thought it was a flat pink. But it's not. It's a multi-shimmer pink base, with both pink and gold sparkles (neither of which you can see in the pictures... BOO!). It's interesting, and not too juvenile. I really like it.
I also got the Dazzleglass in Glitter & Ice...
...and I'm pretty sure it's going back.
I was looking forward to this line, but I think I'll only be getting the Soft Sable lipstick. I have no experience with paint pots but the For Effect swatch is really nice!

Stiletto, of all MAC products, Paint Pots are my favorite. They're very versatile... you can use them as shadow, as primer, to change or intensify a different color. I've blended colors into foundation for a natural 'blush' look, and even dotted them on the lips for color. They are really a wonder.
ReplyDeleteI passed on this collection entirely. A total dud for me. The best thing is the dark paint pot, but I have a mufe aqua cream that is pretty much the same thing, so I passed. Mac has disappointed me this Holiday season.
ReplyDeleteIt does remind me of MUFE's #1. BUT I prefer Paint Pots as my multi tasker because you can use brushes with them. MUFE Aqua Creams do not like my brushes.
ReplyDeleteShontay, I was curious... so I just swatched them side by side. For Effect is like MUFE's little sister. LOL. There's a higher shimmer content in For Effect and it's a multi shimmer. MUFE's version is more muted and understated.
ReplyDeleteGood to know. I wasn't crazy about the shimmer in the paint pots. It's just not my thing. It was nice, but I don't even use the Mufe one that much.
