Chanel Holiday 2011

I finally got to see the Chanel Holiday 2011 Collection... and I'm so glad that I waited to buy before testing everything in person. The things that I thought were must haves... well, arent. And there are a few surprises in the collection as well.

I thought that I wanted the gold eyeliner, but in truth the versions from MAC (Fabulous Felines Collection) and Illamasqua are much better. There is also a version from Guerlain that goes on solid and stays put. The Chanel liner skipped, and was very watery. Definite pass for me.

Now, about that highlighter that everyone is squealing about... it was a big fat pass for me. It's a bit opaque, and totally ashy on warm skin. I tried it with my fingers, with a brush, and even with a damp sponge. No dice. It comes out like an ashy pressed powder on my warm skin tone. The pattern is lovely and it's a great collectors item, so for some it's going to be worth the $72. But I prefer to spend that kind of money on something that I can gaze at AND use if necessary.
