Dear Beautiful People,
I need your help. I'm in search of the perfect gel liner. Here's what I DON'T like: Stila Smudge Pots (dry out within a couple of months... no matter how well you care for them), Pop Beauty Hot Pot Gel Liner (worked like a dream for about 2 weeks... then dried out) and MAC cream and gel liners.
I need a new... GOOD liner! I prefer a good slip; I don't like the drier gel versions. Here's what I'm starting out with, in my quest to find the perfect liner:
This thing cost me $25 bucks! Boo!!!! It better work like a damned charm, 'cause it's small as HELL!
Next to Stila...
Next to MAC...
I got it because there was EXCELLENT slip on the tester. And I figure, if folks have been in and out of it... accidentally leaving the top off... and messing around with it and it STILL has excellent slip, it might just be worth the 25 smackers. But the thing is so small that I may personally cuss out the person behind this brand if it turns out to be bogus.
Meanwhile... can you guys suggest some good gel liners? What are your favorites?

I am new to gel liner and I just bought the ELF one. I havent tried it yet though... Will let you know later :)
ReplyDeleteI use elf's gel liner and I bought gel liners on ebay, the coloured ones. They work brilliantly :)
ReplyDeleteI have never used one but I heard Elizabeth Arden does a good one x
ReplyDeletei am using maybelline's gel liner. i think wet and wild also has a good gel liner and even if they get dry after a couple of mos or so it won't hurt your pocket as much. :)
ReplyDeleteplus if your liner gets dry, try submerging half of it in hot water. that's what i do. the gel liner usually melts and goes back to its original blendable consistency. i also heard that glycerin works well. just put a few drops and mix well.
My fave is Bobbi Brown Gel Liner. I have it for several months and it hasn't dried out. It works as it was new...
ReplyDeleteOkay...
ReplyDeleteSo ELF
MAYBELLINE
BOBBI BROWN
I'll check them out!
I just saw the Elizabeth Arden suggestion! I'll play with that one too!
ReplyDeleteMy only concern about the drug store brands is that there are no testers for this sort of thing. Hmph.
I was looking for one as well and most OF my fellow bloggers said Elf,Mac fluidline in blacktrack and one MUA recommended Bobbi brown,
ReplyDeleteIf u could get hold of Sleek ink pot in Dominatrix its quite good and very affordable too
Excellent suggestion on Sleek Sher!
ReplyDeleteI'm not messin' with MAC any more in that department though.
The crime is, I actualy HAVE colored liners from Bobbi Brown... but not a black one. I need to do better. smh.
Bobbi Brown and Wet N' Wild/Black Radiance. I know you're a high-end woman, but the WNW/BR are worth a trip to the drugstore (just wear shades, they won't know it's you). I have had liners from these brands for over a year and they have retained their creaminess. They all go easily on and stay on all day.
ReplyDeleteAs WNW and BR are from the same company their liners are identical, except that WNW has black and eggplant and BR has black and brown. Don't ask me about that craziness. If you don't live in a gentrifying area you'll probably have to go two different neighborhoods to get all three colors. But they work so hey. (My old neighborhood had them both. It's been almost a year though so the BR is probably gone.)
I recently purchased the Maybelline version because I liked the charcoal color, but the jury is still out on that one.
I am DYING LAUGHING at 'just wear shades!' LOLOLOL
ReplyDeleteWet n' Wild got my attention with those iconic palettes. I don't know if we get Black Radiance here...? But I'll check. Thanks for the suggestion!
So far I've tried:
ReplyDeleteELF - lasted so long I was able to use almost the entire pot, but I brought a second one and its dry already. Don't know if they changed the formula or their liners are just hit and miss.
Stila - Lasted for a few month until it dried out. Tried to rehydrate with Fix+ and the formula became sticky and totally unusable
Wet n Wild - Dried out the fastest of any liner I've used so far
Bobbi Brown - Has lasted the longest without becoming dry.
I'm interested in sticking the dried ones in hot water to see if maybe I can revive some of them.
So far it's looking really good for Bobbi Brown. I will try ELF and Wet n' Wild to be fair though. I did get one from Clinique... we'll see how it performs.
ReplyDeleteHot water? Hmmmmmm...
I really like my Smashbox Jet set liner. It took almos a year to get dry and the hot water trick helped it a lot.
ReplyDeleteThanks.. I'll check that out!
