Cargo Lumieres Palette: SWATCHES and a GIVEAWAY!

Hey guys...

I finally dug into the palette and swatched the shadows. I don't know WHY I was so stressed about messing up the shadow patterns... they're etched in there pretty deep. After I swatched them, you could hardly tell that I'd used it at all...
These are all of the shimmers except the gold (that's all I could comfortably fit on my arm).

This is the gold and the two mattes.

I had the hardest time trying to photograph the bronzer and blush, so you'll just have to trust me on the description. The bronzer has a shimmer (which is not detectable at first glance at the palette) and goes on a true bronze on me. I'd use it with other blush colors to add shimmer, or by itself. It shows up on my NC43 skin pretty solid. Any skintones darker than that would likely get a good shimmer or a highlight. Any skintones lighter than that could likely use it as a true bronzer.

The blush is a corally pink. Alone it's a pretty standard color. Good color payoff, but I can see it going ashy on darker skintones. I think it looks best blended with the bronzer. I almost want to say you can get a result much like NARS Orgasm ... or even Super Orgasm if you add more bronzer -- but don't hold me to that.

That's it for the swatches. Now for the Giveaway:

When the regular Holiday Giveaway is done, I'm going to pay 4 of these palettes forward. I made a bunch of phone calls, did some extensive driving, and even whined a bit to get my hands on them! I really wanted you guys to share in the joy of this palette because I feel that it's really awesome.

So....

Four winners will be chosen at random in the months of January and February -- to win the palettes! I'll do a more extensive post about it as the time gets closer.

In the meantime, the winner of the Golden Opportunity Prize (Part 1) will be announced tomorrow.

Good Luck Everyone!

  1. Pay it forward with makeup. I like that a lot! My dad always says that the more you give to the world, the more you get back in return. I can't wait to be able to hold my first giveaway!!

  2. Good luck Prettyinthedesert! I love paying things forward. I'm sure the girl at ULTA thought I was COMPLETELY INSANE when I blew through there last night talking a mile a minute about having the palettes on hold. LOL! I don't care though.

  4. Thanks Raisa!
The colors are stunning. But I wouldn't expect anything less from Cargo.. they've got a pretty good reputation in the quality department. I'll do a practical app likely later this week.

  5. Once again, so generous to go through all that trouble. I have always been taught that what you give comes back to you x3. So I guess that'd be 12 more gorgeous palettes for you! LOL! Nah, kidding aside, I'm sure that you will be generously rewarded for having such a big heart and sharing your joy in beauty with us. ;)

The swatches are great! The color payoff seems pretty good. :)

  6. Thanks Sugar! If I can make someone smile, then I'm a better person for it. Plenty of people have made me smile, and asked for nothing in return. I'm just paying their goodness forward.

The palette is awesome, right? And remember, this MUA doesn't typically use bases. So I REALLY want to see how they perform and last without any extra help.

  7. These shadows look really nice! And once again, you're a lovely person! :)

For the tag in my blog, all you have to do is copy the list of products (primer, foundation, powder, etc) and write next to it the product you will choose if you were only able to choose one. Imagine that you love 2 foundations, you must choose only one of them :) I'm looking forward for your post!

  10. Yes! :) I agree on both points. It's always a good feeling to know that you made someone's day better.

I have seen a lot of good reviews on Cargo but haven't had a chance to try any of their products. Any product that would stay on without a base is definitely worth trying!

You have so many giveaways on your blog and each of your giveaways is really awesome that I can't make up my mind which one is the best LOL! xD Thanks for sharing your love of makeup with us.
